We are used to refer to the civil engineering as basic as the type of square construction , being more subtle. But for those who have the power to take the perspective of what we want to achieve a level of construction , and we seek our art work, mainly because the facades and structures are visually appealing to our audience. Our work as a civil engineer is to realize the great works that are impossible at first glance , but this even more important is that our work is recognized , named and is story is why I think the ingenuity of civil engineering by the art and unique designs are important for clinical eye acceptance of our users to inhabit and admire the work .
Engineering is not defined satisfactorily in one sentence. In 1820 the British architect Thomas Tredgold president of the Institution of Civil Engineers, probably the first who made a try , called "the art of directing the great forces of nature and use them for the benefit of man."At that time the definition was appropriate because it had not yet consolidated the role of science and technology in the engineering work.Yet a century later civil engineers define their profession as "the art of the practical application of scientific and empirical knowledge to design and production or performance of various types of construction projects, machinery and materials use or value to man".In a more general way , today proposed new definitions increasingly long and complex . An example is the definition adopted by the Council for Accreditation of Engineering Education in Mexico : "The engineering is considered a profession that through knowledge and application of mathematics and natural sciences , integrated in the study , experience and practice, develops a set of methods that use and transform the materials and forces of nature with economy and respect for the environment , for the benefit of human beings " .A definition supposedly adapted to the Colombian media, is prepared by an engineer national historian : " Engineering is the set of theoretical, empirical knowledge and practices that apply professionally to provide forces and natural resources , and objects , materials and man- made systems to design, build , operate equipment, facilities , goods and services for economic purposes , within a given social context , and demanding a level of scientific training and technical ad- hoc particularly in physics, natural sciences and especially economics and well above that of ordinary citizensIn these definitions we speak of benefit to humans and therefore not many engineers consider this profession as something prosaic and utilitarian , if not qualify predatory and dangerous. But when you talk about value, it is not necessarily measured by an economic scale , the ancient pyramids and many other structures are of little economic value , but its value in terms of faith and beauty is considerable. It is that part of engineering to which this paper refers to these portents that have created the engineers, those great works that still amaze the world and those that are not only useful but beautiful and transmitting the entrepreneurial spirit of man . These works , physical or otherwise, haloed by the marvelous, époustouflants us with demiurgic powers of the engineers and thus the need to discuss the art and magic of engineering. This race is a professional engineering discipline that uses knowledge of calculus, mechanics, hydraulics and chemistry to develop the design, construction and maintenance of infrastructure deployed in the environment, including roads, railways, bridges, canals, dams, ports, airports, dams and related structures.
Civil engineering is the oldest after military engineering, hence its name to distinguish non-military and military activities. It has traditionally been divided into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, sanitary engineering, geotechnical engineering, geophysics, geodesy, control engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, transportation engineering, earth sciences, engineering, urban planning, engineering planning, hydraulic engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering. Civil engineers positions in virtually all levels in the public sector from the municipal level to the government and in the private sphere from small independent consultants working at home until hired in large international companies.
Engineering has been an aspect of life since the beginning of human existence. The earliest practices of civil engineering could have started between 4000 and EL2000 a. C. in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia when humans started to abandon a nomadic existence, creating the need for a shelter. During this time the transport began to increase its relevance, which led to the development of the wheel and navigation.Until the modern age there is no clear distinction between civil engineering and architecture, and the term engineer and architect suffered variations referring to the same person, even exchanged. The construction of the Pyramids of Egypt between 2700 and 2500 BC could be considered the first signs of large buildings. Other historic buildings include the system Qanat water management, the Parthenon by Ictino in Ancient Greece (447-438 BC.), The Appian Way by Roman engineers or the Great Wall of China in 220 BC, or irrigation works in Anuradhapura. Of all the ancient civilizations perhaps the most developed in civil engineering was the Romans who were pioneers in building a network of roads, aqueducts, ports, bridges, dams and sewers.
